Keeping the Streak Going

Sunday, February 19, 2017

Summary:
1. I've got a streak of 46 days in a row of no overeating. It very well may be the first time in my life I have accomplished this feat.
2. Hubby and I are back to dancing Senior Dance and are testing out square dancing.
3. My 5K speed improvement training plan is going well. Another Magic Mile tomorrow.
4. Planning my eating and workouts help me stick to the plans and have success!

Quit reading here, unless you really like details:

Today is my 46th day in a row of NO overeating. I have stuck to my food plan completely 45 out of 46 days; on the one day that I ate 150 unplanned calories. I was still within my maintenance calorie range. I count that as no overeating. Not perfect, but really, really good. Good enough!

I had 4 days of a middle "2" on the scale, two days of 129.8 and two days of 128.8. Today and yesterday it was 130.0. Stuck to food plan and sodium intake was not extreme so it is a fluctuation, perhaps related to some soreness from my challenging running training program.

I'm planning the upcoming week. At this point I'm on about 50%-50% "meals on my own" and jenny craig pre-packaged meals. So far, so good. Tomorrow we are going back to EPCOT specifically to see the last Disney on Broadway performance which features people from the Lion King. My son-in-law is off work, DD is taking the day off, and the granddaughters' school is out for President's Day. They both see the dentist at 8:30am, so we probably won't leave until 10am or later. That's good, because I can get my training run in. I have 6 miles total with one Magic Mile in which I'm to run about as fast as I can. Fingers crossed that I'll do better than I did last time, 9:29. I'm taking some food with me, but may not eat it if the group chooses places to eat where I can get what I need.

Thursday morning we are back to Senior Dance. Our return to it last week went well and I think we will continue. Another fun thing we did was go to a beginning square dancing class. We did okay in lesson one, but when we watched the advanced group we were more than a bit intimidated. We'll just take it a lesson at a time and see what we can do. I guess the intimidating part is that if I mess up, it messes up 7 other people, too. They assure me that everyone makes mistakes, but I just hope I only make my share of them!! I do think the mental stimulation along with the physical activity will be good for me.

Do you have plans for the upcoming week? How do you adjust your food and exercise plans to accomodate your life?

I am so glad to hear that you are back in the "swing" of life after having some rough patches last year. You should be so proud of yourself. You are an inspiration to me for sure and to many other Sparkers too. I so wish DH was a dancer, but no such luck. I will just have to be jealous and dance in my mind as I read your blogs.

I have been struggling with my food plan lately, but thanks to the support of my Spark friends I am feeling back on track. I have been steadily sticking to my fitness schedule and that is an improvement for me. So I don't really adjust anything to accommodate my social life although I know many people do. I know, deep in my heart, what I am suppose to eat and what not to eat. If I stick with that knowledge, I am happy with myself. So this Tuesday when I go out for Girl's Movie Night I will order a healthy salad and have allow myself one glass of wine.

    You are doing so well!
That is awesome you are setting down another challenge for yourself with square dancing. It is a really great activity and yes, so very challenging. The big key is learning the individual movements. Once that is down its a matter of following the caller. Its a lot like step. I found it very intimidating to see people swirling around on the step in all those fancy movements so fast. But once I got the individual movements down fully, it became easier as I learned to listen carefully to the instructor and simply follow their instructions. They give you enough advance warning you can keep up. I am sure they will give you plenty of time to learn the moves and they won't be calling as much and as many moves as the advanced ones. Its always scary being on the bottom of the heap, but so rewarding when you have learned. You only have to go back and remember your beginning days as a runner. Did you ever think you would go the distances you do now? Ever feel it was effortless and not tiring?

Ya know, I do very little adjusting to my food plans and exercising. I just seemingly do the same all the time. I eat healthy, and if I go out and never order salad dressing for my salads, just lemon slices. And if I order a main meal, it is always something grilled with steamed veggies on the side. My dinners at home are always steamed veggies, a sweet potato and some type of protein. During the day, I eat very little if I am home. I am not a big eater. Granola was the culprit when I gained my weight. I ate it morning noon and night...I walk every morning and do core and stretch exercises in the evening always at home. Adjusting, naw. I just keep it simple.
