6 month checkup and beyond

Thursday, February 09, 2017

I can not believe how busy we are now! It seems as if we never stop being on the move lately, literally. This last few days has slowed us down though with the nasty crud going around.

In the last two weeks, I have had 3 doctors and one nutritionist appointment. Almost all of my blood tests are phenominal, just a couple of vitamins a little bit low, but we will get that fixed. All followups were stellar, so I am on cloud nine. This decision has literally saved my life in more ways than I can count.

As of right now, I have lost 139 pounds in just over 6 months! That puts me at just under 25 pounds to go to reach my high end goal weight and 35 to my low end goal weight. That sounds impossible when I read it myself! My dear wife has lost over 75 pounds without the surgery just by all of us being on the same life changing way of life. Our daughter has lost 20 pounds and our bean pole son is still a bean pole lol. We have found a no sugar added ice cream that satisfies our cravings and occasionally a dark chocolate for that sweet tooth. We average about 70 grams of protein per day, lowest is 60 with a high close to 100 grams.

I don't have to see the surgeon again until my 1 year mark and my nutritionist is now every 3 months. I look forward to reaching my goal and maintaining it for the rest of my life. The one thing I really need to work is building muscle. I will find ways to do it on my own because i am not a fan of personal trainers and the nearest gym is almost an hour away.

That's all for now! Have a great week and make GOOD choices!

Congrats my friend on your success. Yes muscle building is very important. I would suggest using resistance bands. They are affordable and it uses your own body for the weight. Also if you get fitness straps like the TRX (i bought a lower priced version) you can also do body weight exercises that will help.

Also there are a vast number of videos here on Spark that may help you get where you want to with an at home regimen.

emoticon on all the health changes you and your family have made.
So proud to be your friend here on Sparks. I know you will now live a healthy life.
Once you have mind and body working together it can work magic.

Shop around to see if you have a used sport and fitness store in your area.
I have picked up several things there like weights, balance ball a stepper, you never know what they
have until you get there. Our store is called Play it Again Sports.

Best wishes on reaching that goal and for the family on their goals as well.
