This weekend is not going to go as I'd hoped. That's usually the case when working toward a goal.
The CEO and owner of our company passed away on Tuesday. The day before, he was admitted to hospice, his doctor saying that he could live another 3 months or so. It was a shock to all when he passed the very next day. Seems he decided he'd had enough and went home to the Lord. He was 89 years old.
He was also the father of the president of our department, and my friend and one of my bosses.
So, tomorrow is the visitation. I've made arrangements to ride out with two of my co-workers/other bosses to pay my respects and to be there for my friend and her family.
Since he was a very well loved person, and very active in the community. He was also the founder of the company I work for. It's been in operation since 1965. I expect I'll see a lot of people I know through my work as well as get to meet some that I've yet to have met. I know there will be a lot of people there.
What this means though is that I'll be sitting in a car for 3 hours there and 3 hours back home. I won't get home until very late tomorrow night and I imagine, I won't be able to eat very well. I'm hoping to be able to pack a bit of healthy food to snack on throughout the day that won't "break the bank."
I am hoping to get a lot of walking in while out there. It's hard to tell what will happen though. All I can do is wait to see. In the meantime, my plan is to get up early and get a good elliptical workout in at least.
Which means I'd better get to bed now.
Pray for our safe journey there and back. It will be a sad one for sure.
Have a good night/day and a beautiful Saturday, in case I can't get online at all while away.
Peace and Blessings.
