I lost 5 lbs
Last week I posted what 4lbs looked like using 4 lbs of butter. It's week 3 and I've lost 5 lbs. This is what 5 lbs looks like. A bag of flour. Walk around the supermarket carrying a bag of flour and see how heavy it becomes. It is a relief that I am not carrying that 5 lbs around on me. I'm feeling great and eating healthier foods. I'm finding that I'm not craving those sugary snacks.
I decided that I want to be accountable for every bit of food that I consume. I'm using the app in conjunction with Fitbit so I can see if I am eating within my range. I'm eating between 1550 and 1750 calories a day and while I haven't lost weight that quickly, I am happy with my results so far.
Meal planning: One thing that I am doing with input from the family is that on Friday night we sit together and plan what we want to eat for the week. We make up a menu based on what we like, what's on sale, and whatever we feel like. I cook on the weekend, portion out the food and freeze for the week when we are all busy. I come home from work, pop a meal in the oven/microwave and relax (or work out). This week's menu is lasagna with tons of veggies, tofu stir fry with noodles and lots of veggies, shepherd's pie, fajitas, and a leftover night,
I've also discovered that there are a few neat items you can purchase at your grocers that make cooking and salad making a breeze. I bought shredded carrots and shredded beets and I am adding them to everything - sandwiches, salads, wraps. I even made a lettuce with turkey and the shredded beets and carrots. Here's a picture of turkey on wasa crackers:
The picture is a bit blurry - wasa crackers, turkey, avocado, carrots, beets. Yum.
I want to also say that I couldn't have lost all the weight I have so far without all of you. I read your blog and they are the best motivation for me. You guys rock. I have a lot of weight to lose and I am doing it for me, my health, and my family.
