I went on a hike with the hiking club yesterday and had so much fun! I have really enjoyed the group and for sure when I am in town will join them on one of the weekly hikes. Thought I would share the entry from my hiking journal.

Temps have been in the high 20's the past few nights, so I wasn't too surprised to see fewer people in line for hikes this morning. This time of year there are typically about 250 people who show up and they show up early! Today, I went on the 9 mile Empire Ranch hike which snaked through grasslands, giant Oak groves and was capped with a 360 degree panoramic mountain range view at lunch. Didn't see the wild mustangs running this trip, (drats!) but we did encounter a horse rider looking for his dog! 😄 I really hope he finds the dog as we did see large cat tracks on the trail. The hike leader said it was most likely a mountain lion or cougar and those tracks were fresh! Hike leader Jim Riley / elevation gain 460 feet. The hike was designated as a "moderate B" however it was an easy trail and I didn't even use my trekking poles. It was a B hike rather than a C because of the distance.
Beautiful scenery. I hope he finds his dog, too! Our dog got lost in the woods in Maine. She was gone for a week and I thought she was surely dead, but she turned up looking good. C 1295 days ago
Sounds great. Loved the pictures. Hope dog is ok. We had a terrior mix (from the pound) and I looked out in the yard one day cause she would not stop barking, and a GREAT DANE was there, frozen with Ruby barking her head off, "how DARE you come into my yard." I called her in the house so the dog could leave our fenced yard. All was well. She was fearless. and a one family dog. My kids still talk about her and like to tell Ruby stories. 1295 days ago
I love to hike a well, though I've never done it with a group. My husband and I go on Sundays (his only day off) when he tells like it. We go to local parks and reservations when we can. Love it though! Awesome pictures by the way! 1295 days ago
