Lynne and the Terrible, Ugly, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Thursday, January 19, 2017

I know - I stole that from a children's book title, but it describes my day perfectly. My week has been the brewing of a big storm and I got hit with a squall line today. Living with people brings so much joy and fulfillment and happiness, and it can also be a b*tch! The last squall line to hit me happened almost 2 weeks ago - and it has taken me all that time to pull myself together after I drove my nutrition and exercise plans right off the rails.

Once I got back on my program (3 whole days ago), I gave a lot of thought as to how to handle the stress when the storms hit again. I have always let 'life' drive me off into a bar ditch when it comes to my eating and exercising. How could I conquer that failure? I didn't really have a strategy formulated when I got hit with today's squall line. My 'instant stress reliever' has always been Dr Pepper. I'm sure it even cures cancer - but I have not had one all week. Once I had one two weeks ago, I was like a chain-smoker - always having one around. So today, that is exactly what I wanted as I tried to tackle something I didn't know how to fix. Just one - that would be my strategy. I'll have only one Dr Pepper and log it in my tracker and everything will be all hunky-dory!

B.S.

I know that only one DP is the beginning of the end and historically takes me weeks to get back on the train. So my victory in a day that sucked BIG TIME, was a glass of tea as I headed out the door. I can say that I had one day from hell and survived it without having a Dr Pepper.

Baby steps.

    Lynne,

I'm so far behind in reading anything on Spark. So sorry that you've been hit with storms. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
