Countdown to 48: Day 1

Thursday, January 19, 2017

So I FINALLY got my appointment. Called and got an entirely different person today than the one I was able to speak with ever so briefly the other day, and on whose voicemail I have left too many messages that were never returned. Got my appointment for March 8, 48 days from today. Almost 7 weeks.

It immediately occurred to me that I can do a lot of damage in almost 7 weeks. Damage to my health, OR, damage to my overweightness. I pick door number two. Would love to be a few pounds lighter and in a better place mentally and physically the day I walk into that doctor's office than I am today. Only time will tell if this is enough of an event in my own head to make me more mindful of the food I put into my mouth, but I am encouraged by the fact that the thought even occurred to me. Yes, it's been that bad lately.

Here's a tip: I didn't bring my lunch today because I knew I'd be out of the office at lunchtime and I don't often splurge on buying lunch, so I thought I would. Of course, by the time I left the office I had this new-found "eat healthy" thought in my head, and it's very difficult for me to get in and out of my car with my bad hip, so I decided to go to Wendy's and get a grilled chicken sandwich. While in the drive through lane, I found the Power Mediterranean Chicken half salad with light balsamic vinaigrette dressing. WOW. The best 300 calories I've eaten in a long time. Check. It. Out.
