You know better, Cheryl

Wednesday, January 18, 2017

I am well aware that before I go to the gym to work out with my trainer, I need to eat something. Most likely a good protein/carb combo. Today, I was feeling good, energized, ready to tear it up. Half way through my workout, I started getting really tired, and my heart rate was up there much easier and faster than usual. I didn't eat before going. And it cost me. I cut my final section of the workout off. I left feeling shaky and tired. Took my blood sugar when I got home, it was 97. I get shaky under 120. I am aware of that, and I know how to manage it. Time to get better at the grocery shopping so I have the foods available in the house that I need. It was fine when I was shopping for a family, but now that its just the two of us mostly, we have both gotten off track badly. I will get the sugar back to where I feel good and I will NOT throw the day away because of one little vaguely unpleasant moment.
I know better, and I will do better. I am doing this for me and I am worth taking care of myself better.

And, take something with you to the gym. Keep it in your bag or locker for such emergencies.
