Beginning my Journey with Spark

On December 14, 2016, I received a diagnosis of Diabetes 2. For me, that news was a huge wake up call. My doctor told me that he believes I can change this if I start NOW eating healthy and adding exercise to my life style. So, this is my motivation and reason for needing and wanting to lose weight. In my past (before the Diabetes diagnosis), I have been able to lose weight, but when I started feeling good about myself, I slowly but surely put all the lost weight back on. Since joining SparkPeople, I have resolved to make some permanent changes. All the tools I need are right here. Besides all the great education, motivation and support tools, the food and exercise trackers are my favorites. They keep me accountable. As far as the scale goes, I am doing something different. I am setting 5 pound increment goals. This is achievable for me and it is a way for me to reward myself often. I CAN AND WILL GET HEALTHY 5 pounds at a time and avoid having to take medication for Diabetes.
