Starting again

Hello anyone who's reading this! I've not been doing so hot...2016 was a rough year and that's no excuse but I'm starting from my heaviest weight ever this time. I said there's no excuse (and there's not, really), but I think I reached such a heavy weight because I lost my mom this last fall. The day before Thanksgiving, my mom lost her battle with colon cancer. When she was hospitalized I really gave up on any small effort I was making to eat well and take care of my body. I mean, I showered, but no workouts, lots of fast food, candy, and not a ton of sleep. We knew she probably wouldn't make it 5 years but I never dreamed we'd lose her less than a year after she was diagnosed- timeout to remind people to GO GET A COLONOSCOPY. My mom died when she was 58 years old. She'll never see me get married, help me through a pregnancy, or meet my future children. I'm having some depression issues but I'm trying to turn this loss into a motivator to get my health in check.

I joined a gym and signed up for a year hoping that paying for my membership will be an extra motivator to go- I don't want it to be a waste of money. I made myself sad just writing this post but the next one will be better. Sorry to be a downer!

Hang in there, it gets easier. I lost my Mom to breast cancer when she was 50 and I was 30. It never goes away, but it becomes less raw.
