A new beginning...hopefull

Well maybe I's time I started blogging again. For now I will double blog on both CK and SP. I've been with CK (CalorieKing) since 2005 and with SP (SparkPeople) sporadically over the years.

I like the diary, weight tracker, charts, the motivational tool, CK University, etc. at CK. I like the peer created challenges. Peer support used to be exceptional at CK - until they removed community items from the home page making it harder to monitor threads I follow, etc. I do also like that my blogs are searchable - so if I'm looking for something and can't remember when I wrote it, I can search for it using key word(s). They are currently working on changing their diary/nutrition tracker. From the looks of it, so far it looks like they've added a feature or two, but stripped away lots of other features. That's a shame. I like being able to add my meals in no particular order, track lots of nutritional information, and click on more to see where so much more of my nutrition is coming from at a particular meal. I also like that I can track so many health markers (not just weight). I pay about $20/year because I really like the weight and nutritional tracker. And I really like that my exercise calories are subtracted from my food calories. They have the largest food and exercise data base that I am aware and I hope that does not change with the new diary. If they change it to something that is no longer better than the rest, I may have no reason to continue to pay the annual fee. I do use the mobile site to log my food when away from home and even though I pay an annual fee to be a member, I now have ads on that portion of the site.

SP can't be beat when it comes to peer support. And I like the motivation of earning Spark points and being able to send 'Goodies' to others. SP has tons of recipes and articles that I probably wouldn't really look at if it weren't for the Spark points. I like that I can access food values that others have entered. But other than that, I don't like their nutrition tracker as well. I know I can add my own recipes, but I can't comment on that function because I've not tried it because up until now I've mostly logged at CK. SP is free but I did just pay the one time (lifetime) fee of about $30 to remove the ads from my pages. SP has mobile aps which I've downloaded to my phone and my Kindle but have not tried yet. I need to spend more time getting familiar with SP's massive site - just in case I make the switch to using it exclusively.

Well that was a lot wordier than I had planned. I had only planned to make a short statement indicating that my blogs would be duplicated and that either SP +/or CK might be mentioned. LOL.

I was going to start actually 'blogging' but think I've said enough for one day... Maybe tomorrow.
