Last year was my year to move out of the normal parameters of my life. By challenging myself to "Touch the Sky in 2016," I reached higher and farther than I ever have. I accomplished more than I dreamed I could. I am grateful to SparkPeople.com because it is where I began this journey of growth in 2006. That first year was all about giving myself permission to take care of myself, starting with tracking my eating and exercise, and then, educating myself about what was needed in order to improve. That affected other areas of my life and I gained confidence to believe that I could do more!
As I've grown, I changed my site name from TazMomsGol to DragonSlayer and now, TamingDragons. The dragons "Witesugar," "Eversittin," and "Ignorurhart" are long gone. I may need to slay a few more dragons this year. Although I am letting a few stay with me, I am in charge and I will control them! They will be challenging opponents or caring companions depending on how I handle them. Their names are: "Eetwell," "Corecairen," "Beewitutters," "Alilshoogar," and "Moovinmor."
So that I can control these dragons that remain, maintain good health, and lose the body fat, I will continue my vegan eating plan, exercise at least one hour a day, plan for a bit more activity throughout the year, and continue to consult several professionals. I will be using my Fitbit and tracking my exercise on SparkPeople. I plan to check in with my teams at least once a month and blog a few times.
For 2017, I will be "Mastering What I Do Best!" Not only will I be taming the dragons that get in the way, I plan to intentionally eliminate things that take time I could use for what I am good at doing. They are not bad things, in fact, they are all good things. Just like everyone else, I have 24 hours a day. To improve my use of the time I have, I am going to focus on my strengths. For the next 12 months, I will centralize my efforts to value others and myself by further developing my life coaching, speaking, and singing. I am already preparing for at least three speaking engagements, continuing Voice Lessons, singing once a month at church, and planning my mid-year Voice Recital.
I'm excited about what's ahead for me! And I hope that you discover who you are and what you stand for so that you too find joy, fulfillment, and the confidence to do and be the person you are meant to be!
Steve Jobs asks himself this question every day: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today? If the answer is 'no' for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something."
The goal is never the goal; the goal is who you become in achieving that goal. What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals. - Zig Ziglar
