Setting some seriously incremental goals
Thursday, January 05, 2017
So in the interest of actually achieving some of my goals, I've set up some incremental ones.
For example, I've been chasing the dream of getting 8 hours of sleep since I was a young adult (I'm 46 now).
Yesterday I decided to just say, "In the month of January, I will try to establish a set bedtime." That's it. That was my whole goal. It feels inadequate, but it might help me get to 8 hours.
Then today, when I was "cleaning house" on my tracked goals, I decided to set a sleep goal... down from 6-8 hours a night to 4.
I feel silly when I see 4. It's just half of what I should be getting. However, this is a number I think I can achieve. I don't always get it, like on the weekends, but I often do.
And if I can get to where I get 4 every night, then just maybe I can up it to 5.
I also did this with water ... I set my goal to 4 cups per day. I'm sure doctors everywhere would beat me over the head with my own medical file... but if that gets me to 5 then 6 then 7 then 8, then... I done done good! Who's silly then? :-)
