Weeks 24-26

Thursday, January 05, 2017

I can't believe that I haven't blogged in three weeks, but since week 23, we have endured another family tragedy and bad revelations. Let's just say that it has not been very easy.

The holiday season was rough for my wife because of losing her mom in July. I have done everything I can to be there for her. Add to that, her sister has been in and out of the hospital several times. She has Pancreatitis and a blockage between her Pancreas and her Liver. They put a stint in to see if they could get the blockage to break up. Not sure if it will work because they tried blood thinners and those didn't do anything. Then, my wife is also dealing with her brother being extremely sick with Bronchitis and bleeding on the brain. It only gets worse from there. A very dear friend of ours, like a second dad to both of us and the kids have always known as and called grandpa, died suddenly and unexpectedly on the 27th of December, which really hit us all very hard. Finally, my wife and I were informed of something that we have had to deal with with one of our children. I'm sure I missed something, but I'm sure you are depressed enough.

However, some extremely good things have come out of all this. We have made some significant changes within our household. We have instituted a family time that all electronics are turned off at night and are spending more time together as a family. My wife and I now get up each morning a half hour earlier in order to spend time reading and discussing the Bible. We each are spending time with our children reading and discussing the Bible and how we can apply it to our lives. Her and our daughter have a daily scripture that they write out and meditate on. We will now be spending one evening a week doing a family worship project. We are making plans for more family outings once the weather gets better, as right now we have extreme ice conditions and one and a half feet of snow on the ground. So, all the tragedies have had a profound effect on us as a family.

Our healthy life is going strong still. Since January 1st, I have lost another 3 pounds making a total loss of 128 pounds in six months. Tomorrow is my 6 month surgiversary and I continue to be amazed with my progress. I am very active and am starting to build some significant muscle.

Have a great week!
