13 MISTAKES THAT CAUSE RESOLUTIONS TO FAIL. THIS IS THE ARTICLE I CHOSE ON SPARK TODAY.

Now – we could probably list all 13 b/c we’ve done them. So I’m choosing my Top 5 to seriously work on.

1 – MAKING RESOLUTIONS THAT ARE TOO BIG – Tip: On a sheet of paper write down your goal and as many of the tiny steps you can break it in to. …SEE BECK BOOK IN #3…

2 EATING FOOD YOU HATE – Tip: I find myself eating the same low carb foods over and over until I am sick. By adding my foods into my Spark App, I have something like a menu. I can just scroll down and new ideas are waiting for me to add them to my day. I even have reasonable salads from McDonalds/Arbys/Burger King there. How neat is that?

3 – FOCUSING ON SUBTRACTING INSTEAD OF ADDING – Tip: don’t try to erase all negative habits at once. I particularly use the BECK DIET SOLUTION for this. We have a Spark Team by that name and the book/workbook are wonderful. It’s all about baby steps and building good habits, one week at a time.

4 – Letting the scale be your only measure of success – Tip : Instead, use a tape measure each week. Or record blood pressure.

5 – NOT CHANGING MY ENVIRONMENT - Tip: Clean out the sweets from your house/car/work. Lay out work clothes the night before..SEE BECK BOOK.

    Yup, those are all great! I especially agree with the NSV's - non scale victories!

    Another mistake is to forget that this is your life you're talking about, not some short term "journey". Plan and do things that you can continue to do for a long, long, healthy time!
