New Year's Eve

Saturday, December 31, 2016

Well, this is it, everyone! New Year's Eve. We wish fair thee well to the old year, and say hello to what lies ahead. So I went back to the my stats and blogs for the beginning of the year. I started the year weighing in at 228. I now weight 224. What those numbers DON"T say is how I lost weight, gained it back, and dropped it again. Same with inches. I went back and reread some of my blogs from January through March. What I see is a woman who's defeated. Defeating herself. I was stuck in the upper 230s for quite awhile, it seems. (I had forgotten that!) I had lots of off track days this year, but alot of on-track days too. I didn't make any goals for 2016, it seems. emoticon

emoticon My goal for 2017 is to be down to 174 by next new years. That is my loosing 1 lb a week. I set that with the idea that I'll get stuck some weeks, or loose more. I WILL do this!

emoticon Another goal is to do 5 minutes of yoga a day. Not a huge amount of time.

emoticon I will also reduce my time on Facebook. It's really a time suck, and I need all the free time I can get!

emoticon I will practice my flute 3x a week for at least 5 minutes. Baby steps, right? I'm still learning the basics of it, so that sounds like a good start!

emoticon I will also cook a meal at least once per week. I'm not much of a cook so this is a great goal, and also supports all of the other ones except for the flute.

emoticon So There's my goals for 2017! What are yours?

Nice! I like your goals a lot! Cooking for yourself really gives you control. Control is good!

I like your artistic and spiritual goals. Mine tend to be very pragmatic.

My goals for this year are:
Continued healthy eating, within the low end of my calorie range most days
Daily exercise, with the occasional rest day
Adequate sleep and water each day
Not letting other people's judgments get me down

I would LOVE to set a weight goal for myself, but with all the hormonal changes that come in midlife, I really can't do that. I have decided not to set myself up for disappointment. At my age, I can do everything "right" and still lose very slowly. This will have to be fine, if I'm to be happy with this process.

You are going to do this, my friend! 2017 is your year!

I love your goals. So sensible and well thought out. Have fun!

PS: I used to play the flute. Gave it to a friend's sister when she wanted to learn and I hadn't played in years. Have fun!

These are wonderful goals! I started playing the piano last year, and plan to have my violins and bows fixed up to start the violin again after decades of non playing.

You can do this! Focus on changing one little habit at a time and the weight will follow.

Fantastic!! And, hey, my weight was down 6 lbs. from last January 1st though I, too, lost and gained those pounds repeatedly. I'm just ecstatic it was down. WooHoo for that!!

I belong to a team on Spark called OMAT -- One Month At A Time. We choose a goal to work toward each month and I have found a great deal of success with this concept. I've been working on staying within my calorie range. I started last year with a goal of 15 day in a month and am up to 25 now. Going to that team and reporting my progress every day (or close to it) has really helped me. Check us out if you want.

Great goals! My goals are similar. Lose weight & keep it off, more meal prepping & less social media which also includes Spark People!
