Positive Self Talk

Today was my first weigh-in of my SparkPeople reboot. A lot of defeating thoughts came up this week, as I began anew: "If I had stuck with this the last couple times, I would have hit my goal by now." "I'm frustrated that my current weight is 13# higher than my last logged weight." "Ugh I hate how I look in photos." So, it's time to reframe these a bit. My highest weight, over ten years ago, was 30# more than I weigh now. The fact that I lost that much and kept at least that much off tells me I can succeed and reach my goal. I'm not waiting to be "thin enough to be happy." I can make positive changes and still live and approve of myself as I am RIGHT NOW. I got married last year, to a loving, supportive man who thinks I'm beautiful, inside and out. Every time I see myself in a photo, if a negative response crops up, I will remind myself to try to view it through his eyes. Happy New Year, and remember not to say anything to yourself that you wouldn't say to your best friend.

    My sister tells me the same thing to me all the time! I'm the queen of negative self talk but it's a hard thing to break when you've heard the same things most of your life. Good luck with your journey.
