Reflecting on 2016

I started 2016 at 230 pounds. Like most people, I dove into eating right and exercising in January then February came and life happened and I started eating a lot at night. "A few chips won't hurt me" I said to myself... night after night. But they did, and by August, I was 245 pounds. 245 pounds. How does that happen? 5 pounds at a time.

You put weight on 5 pounds at a time. Clothes are a little tighter, then you go to the other side of your closet where you keep the "fat" clothes you haven't thrown out yet (just in case??). You're comfortable and keep going along. Until one day the truth hits you like a brick and you smarten up and get into the right mindset and you use the tools you have right in front of you to do something about it!

You take weight off 1 pound at a time. You struggle, you work hard. You measure out your portions with an accuracy that Becky Hand would envy! But you do it. Day after day. And it takes TIME. There are no easy, quick fixes. This is a life long commitment.

As I start 2017, I weigh 213. I have lost over 30 pounds since Labour Day. My goal is 30 more. (I just want to be "overweight"). I will do this.
