We celebrate St Nicholas Day. With the stockings comes Chocolate. A LOT of it! And it is hard to resist. I haven't done too well with it. But I have noticed that when I indulge, I crash. I mean, yes, I knew there was a sugar crash after awhile, but this is the first time I've put the sad spells I have for seemingly no reason, together with the sugar. But I do think that that's the culprit. The depression doesn't last long, maybe a half hour, but I'm sad, depressed, and weepy during that time. I am going to do my best to start weaning away from the sugar. It's going to be really hard, so I can use all the support I can get!

I am exactly the same! Sugar is poison! I can't really handle it well any more. After several years of limiting sugar, most baked goods and candy taste sickly sweet to me, and I can only have a bite. It is hard in the beginning to cut out the sugar, but once you have done it it becomes very easy. Your body simply does not want it anymore.

That being said, I did have Haagen Dazs on Sunday evening, since my son came back from ten days in China and we celebrated! His GF brought home made cookies. I ate one small cookie, but I could not handle more. Of course, the ice-cream, being very rich, buffers the sugar with all that fat, so I did not react to it. Great! The butterfat slowed down the sugar! Well done, Dragon!

But you know what I mean! If I have sugar these days, it is a small amount, and eaten with other foods that slow it down. I feel okay about the occasional treat when I do it this way.

Good luck, Dragon Sister! Sugar detox can be done!

Sugar affects me the same way. Love it, hate it. It's that kind of relationship.

We have a little gift exchange for St. Nicholas' Day, too. He's a good reminder of what the season is all about.

Is there a visual you can put somewhere to remind yourself the consequences of indulging? Good luck.
