Why I don't write blogs...generally...

Friday, November 18, 2016

This week's challenge in the 5% challenge is to write a blog and to comment on those other members write. I generally don't do a lot of blogs for a few reasons:

1. Thinking of topics
2. Writing them so they make sense
3. Trying to decide, is it for me or for others to read
4. Getting so far behind in responding to those who respond to the blog.
5. Wondering if anyone really reads them vs. just responding with an emoticon

Here is what I found out this week:

1. Thinking of topics is hard if you're just looking for a topic. I generally don't have a lot to say. Creating a topic out of nothing is for authors of those good books I love. But, day to day life is a great source for a topic, too.
2. Writing them so they make sense: still hard for me. Takes me a long time to get it without a lot of typos, miscommunication, goofy sentence structure...lol...long way to go here!
3. I find that I write more for others. If I want it for me, I put it in my private journal. Everyone is different, as it should be.
4. Oh yes...I am way, way far behind. Still trying to get caught up. SP etiquette expects that we respond in some way, if possible.
5. I have found that most people responding to those I've written this week really have read the blog. A great deal, in fact. It's been great. Please have patience with me as I make my way through them. It's been fun and rewarding.

I missed writing yesterday (too many other responsibilities having to do with life in general), and today is the last for this week's challenge. For now, I'll say so long...no more blogs for awhile. But, please, do stop by my SPage and say hello now and then. It's so much fun keeping in touch with my SFriends!!

Have a blessed and wonderful Thanksgiving!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I totally understand your points! I thought blogging was "for other people" til I joined a 5% and was challenged to do so! Then I had to actually look up what a blog was! I still wrassle with doing it, and, like you I will probably do it less, but I hope to send one out as often as I can! It's wonderful reading the encouraging (and sometimes not) comments! I don't always get back to people, unfortunately, especially lately! I hope to do so more after this week! Take care, write again soon, and let us know how your holidays went!❤️ emoticon

I don't like to write either. And if I have the time it goes into my journal I keep that is hand written for me to look at next year. I like to see where I was the year (or two or three) before. And I like my writing to be in pencil or pen, on paper! Old school!

I enjoyed reading your blogs this week!
I agree on the task of thanking everyone can be overwhelming.....I had a friend that wrote a blog a day everyday and even thanked everyone! Wow - just too much.

I bet your glad that part of the challenge is over!!!!

No need to thank me --- this time!!!!

It is difficult thinking what to write - I guess that is why so many do cartoons and quotes.

But you did a great blog!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

I agree about responding to those who post. I have not had time to do so. Now that the LTGL challenge is over, I can get to it. Congratulations on writing the blog.

I am the same way with going with a topic and most of the time I write about my declining health and that is not fun at all and I feel like I am just a big whiner. I really like this blog thank you for sharing with us.

I'll let you off the hook, you don't need to get back to me, I know where you are. As you read my blogs you will see that I really don't have a topic, I just write what comes to minds.

Your blogs are good, and I love reading them. (Too busy, I'm afraid, to have spent much time on SP this month. Family, lot of famly, coming for Thanksgiving for holidays.

I'll bet that you're find it easier to hammer those blogs out the more often you write them, though.

Thanks for sjaring. Like your stuff.

PS -- You missed our snow and cold temperatures in Utah by days. BTW, the town always looks beautiful from now to the end of the year. You know us Mormons: we do celebrate Christmas! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

When I read this I thought you had been reading my mind. We think along the same lines. I have a private journal that I put my personal stuff in. And coming up with topics for this week's challenge is hard as it is mostly routine days. But every so often there is something that makes me think or smile and I may share those.
I do try to read all the blogs my spark friends post.

I agree that coming up with topics can be difficult. The blogs that I wrote in the past usually had to do with my early success and some of the milestones that I achieved. Then I got away from blogging - until this week. Talking about my experiences with the 5% challenge provided enough "fuel" to keep me going for a few days. I managed to ramble on about my day yesterday (thanks for the comment too) and I have come up with a topic for today - partly courtesy of my sister - but it's not necessarily in a good way.
