Writing Letters

Wednesday, November 16, 2016

My hobby is writing letters. It started when I quit smoking four years ago. I'd go to CVS where I used to buy cigarettes (and now you can't buy them there any more!), and buy stickers instead. Once I had too many to know what to do with, I decided I'd cover letters in them, because what else am I going to do with a bunch of stickers?

So if you want one, send me a SparkMail, and I'll write you one.

I would love to write letters with you! I have a lot of stickers too, so I know what you mean about wanting something to do with them. I used to write back and forth to my grandmother (and my grandfather, but he wasn't writing back) and my other grandfather, who was further away than them. It was fun. People don't write letters anymore. It's too bad. Hurry, hurry, hurry! And finding pretty stationary is so difficult. I have some stationary I'd like to use, as well as the stickers. Since my grandparents died, and other family members, I really have no one to write anymore. None of my friends have ever answered one of my letters.

I like letter-writing, too, and wish I could get back to the hours-long sessions of my youth. I think as I've gotten older, I've become more attention-deficit-prone, and this has drastically affected my "old-fashioned" letter output. Even my emails have gotten shorter. I want to get back into so many things I loved as a child and young adult, so I'll write ya soon, BEATLETOT!

I think it's so cool that you write letters. I always THINK about writing a letter but it seems I never get around to actually writing it. Which reminds me, my daughter's birthday is on Monday - I'd better get her birthday card ready!

Do you have any idea how many letters you've written to folks? My dad loved letter writing. I remember having a pen pal as a child. It was fun.

What a lovely idea. I am thinking that many elderly people in homes might LOVE to receive such a letter!

That's great, quitting smoking is so hard!

I love the letter writing! I had a thought that you could write random encouraging little notes to brighten a stranger's day, decorate with stickers, and leave them in odd places (inside a library book, on a public bathroom mirror, in the cereal aisle of the grocery store).

I have always written letters. I had pen pals throughout my life, starting in 6th grade. I'm still friends with one of them! And in college, I wrote letters to my friends over the summer. It's how I grew close with one of my best friends. Love it!
