Hello again!!

Sunday, November 13, 2016

I'm back from a short break from SP. I have been focused on my new job, which I absolutely love!! I am now working as a hematology/oncology nurse in an infusion clinic within the hospital. I've been there a few months now and I officially start my chemo training tomorrow and I'm super excited. I have met so many great people with different stories and they all touch my heart. I know that they are going through so much and I just want to help make it a better experience for them.

I found my motivation to get back to trying to be my healthy self. My son went to the doctor and he was told that he has to lose 20 lbs, no exceptions or excuses. I know that if he's gonna do it, I have to set a good example for him. Both he and I worked out this morning. I may look into a membership at our local recreation center but I'm not sure if he is too young to use the equipment (he's 13).

My husband has been laid off since the beginning of August but he accepted a new job and will start on 11/21. It's been a long three months having him off, but also it has been nice because he gets the kids to where they need to be, and he cooks dinner!

My daughter is having a busy junior year of high school. She is currently in Washington DC for a field trip. She has her learners permit and has been working on her driving. It's still scary, I'm not gonna lie!! She still has a ways to go before she can get her license.

My plan is to work out 3-4 times per week doing both cardio and strength. I took it slow today but will gradually build up my workouts. With the holidays about to be here, there is no better time to recommit to being healthy.

I hope you all are doing well. Thanks again for reading!! emoticon

Lots of good developments! I think your son would be old enough to workout in MOST gyms/rec centers. Definitely call and ask because 13 is a good age for them to be able to do so! I think I was 15 when I joined a gym for the first time and I've seen younger children like 10-12 year olds on gym equipment at different points. Either way, it's a good way to bond for both of you! :)

Welcome, welcome back! Missed you! emoticon
So glad to hear about the satisfaction you're getting from the new job, so very important. You are a perfect fit for a job like that.
Commiting to working on your health and weight with your son is wonderful. I've become a partner to my big guy in our health and it's a fabulous thing! I'm sure that by doing this together you'll both be reaching goals quickly.
A new driver on the roads? Yikes! I remember -as if it were yesterday - when my three girls all learned to drive. It's kind of something that I'll never forget. Good luck to all of you in this. emoticon
    Again, welcome back! Missed you.

Sounds like a lot of good things are happening in your life right now. Oncology nursing is a special area and takes a special nurse. I am sure you will be great and the patients there and their families need special care. Happy that your hubby has a new job. This is a great time to get one. Patience is necessary with teens learning to drive. Glad your son's DR. told him he had to loose weight. He will listen better to a Dr. but there are so many way you can help him and leading by example is great. I think they will let him use the weights at the gym. I know they do at the gym I go to. He just has to be monitored not to overdo. Glad you are back.
