A blog a day...

Sunday, November 13, 2016

A blog a day is a hard thing for me to do, but that's part of the challenge for the final week of the Fall 5% Challenge. Hmm...what to write about? The challenges of traveling and trying to stay true to my food plan? Issues related to disappointment and sadness because of an unexpected loss? Helpful hints for my fellow challengers and Spark Friends? Coping with the loss of a dear friend? These and others are all worthy topics.

No. Instead I think I'll reflect briefly on my birthday this week. I've reached another milestone...a year older. It just seems to happen. Unfortunately, I've not reached some other milestones during this past year. I've frittered away a lot of days, made goofy choices when I had better ones in front of me, and excused my way past inertia (physical and mental).

Having said all that, I'm not waiting until the New Year to set goals for myself. No...what's the point? If I can't set them now and begin to walk the walk of the talking I do, then next year I'll find myself in the same place I am now, except a year older. So, my goals are being worked on, and my actions will be developed, and my commitment is hereby renewed!! What a great feeling!

Won't you join me in this journey? Joining the Winter 5% Challenge is one way to help us move along on the path to success! Think about it. Here's a link for you to check it out: www.sparkpeople.com/mysp

They say "There's no time like today." Yes, I encourage you to set them,,, especially when facing the holidays right ahead of ya. Remember my friend,,, holidays do NOT Need to be "about the FOOD !" with our eyes rolling back up into our heads !! They can be all about "love and being around loved ones." I actually do not celebrate them now. When I looked up the info on the origin of them,,, I decided not to. That didn't go over at ALL well with my family, but I didn't do it to hurt them, but rather for my conscience. Of course now a days less and less think about them as they used to. Now it's greed and "WHAT DID I GET?" well for those under 25. The older one gets it's not about that, as with you my friend,, it's having loved ones around.

I do that but on other days. Though right now,,, things are a little strange. They'll straighten out though,, always does. That can be hard for some to remember when things go weird,,,, there's always the time to fix it as long as one is alive. I say this because I have 2 nieces,,, sisters who are sooo DRAMATIC that they literally FIGHT on FB !! It's funny, yet it's sad ,, very much so.

YOU CAN DO THIS !! I KNOW YOU CAN !!

I like that challenge but I don't join anymore cause it is just way to much tracking and to time consuming, so haven't done them the last year or so. But I hope you at least can maintain.
