An Almost Success & Upcoming Travel

Friday, November 11, 2016

Let's start with the good news! I got a new battery in the scale and it's down 0.6. It's not huge, but I will take it. Yay!

The bad news is, I'm officially not going to make my 20 pound goal before my trip tomorrow unless I cut off a hand, which seems impractical. :)

But more good news, I am down 17 pounds and that is nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, I'm damn proud. Yes, it's painfully slow and yes I'm disappointed I'm not making milestone #1 by my preferred date, but I will get there.

So 20 pounds by Thanksgiving it is.

Next week I will be in Korea so I am a little concerned about the food situation. I am taking a crap ton of protein bars and breakfast bars so that will help. I'm worried because given a lack of healthy vegan or vegetarian options I generally end up with room service pizza. Because every single room service menu on the planet has a cheese pizza on it. I've heard there are a few buddhist temples not too far from the venue and that's always my go-to because it's guaranteed to be vegetarian and not spicy and cheap to boot, but they're all apparently 'across the river' from the venue so it will be a matter of figuring out how much time I have and how far/big this river is to see if I can actually make it out for lunch or dinner most days. I have two dinners already planned for me, and they will be in the hotel and organized by someone who is very good about making sure there's vegetarian and/or vegan and/or gluten-free options. Outside of those two meals, it'll be a bit of a crapshoot. Apparently Koreans simply don't understand the concept of vegetarian, so it's not that they're trying to trick you, they just truly don't grasp why you wouldn't want fish sauce or bits of pork in things. Sooooo we will see how it goes and I will have a protein bar in my bag at all times just in case! I'll also see if I can find a market so I can get some fruit and water.

Rules of this trip:

1. Try your hardest.
2. Exercise at least 3 times.
3. Lay off the booze ... one drink per day, max.

Wish me luck!
