Does anyone remember...

... "Bend and stretch, reach for the sky... stand on tippitoes oh so high..." It was the theme for a program my kids watched back in the 70's. Perhaps a small, Canadian program.

That's what I was doing today. Over the last couple of days, Peter pruned a maple tree, an apple tree and two lilacs. My job was to chop up the branches, save the bigger ones to burn next year in our chiminea, and put the rest out for yard-waste pick-up.

I did lots of bending, stretching and carrying, although if I'm being honest, Peter did more reaching for the sky when he was pruning than I did today.

I also cut back some of the perennials, dug out the rest of the annuals, and in all spent 2 hours in the yard. Beautiful cool, sunny day, and it felt great to be outside.

Peter is out on one of the motorcycles with a friend. When he comes back, he will drop me off at the Pickering Town Centre, 30 minutes south of us, and I'll do some Christmas shopping while he has his bouzouki lesson in Whitby.

Life is good... hope you're having a great day too.

Gail

We used to dance to that tune. I cannot remember her name. Was it romper room. It was here in Maine.
My older boys were in school and our younger one was alone. Next door neighbor went out to work and her only child a daughter came to the house. She was the first girl child I had been with. My boys just did boys stuff so the dolls came over. After one week Cindy wanted trains and trucks.
I loved being around little kids. We still have green grass and still some leaves on the trees. We have had 40 and 50 weather. I had to wait to get the yard to bed. My knee was a month ago and I got out and did a lot of yard work. It looks good so I am getting the house ready for winter.
Glad I found you again. HUGS. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I didn't realize you are motorcyle people too. Ted is not riding until Spring because of his surgery.

This beautiful weather we have had for the past few weeks has really allowed us much more time in the yard and gardens. I emoticon being outside and this should help to shorten the long winter months.

Was that Miss Bonny on Romper Room?
We watched that when I was growing up in the fifties!
I need to do a bit of yard work myself...maybe tomorrow.

Sounds like a great day Gail! And a good reminder to me to get out the pruning saw. There's a lot of pruning to be done.

Thanks for your thoughtful comments on the recent US election. I was up very late watching the results, which were an upset to say the least.
