How to overcome food desires AND feel wonderful on your journey

Monday, October 31, 2016

Scale struggles have been a painful part of my journey in the past. I needed to end that unhealthy conversation and Beck helped me do it.

The number on the scale is a reflection of my genetics, my metabolism, my health, my exercise limitations, my compliance, my consistency in my plan and controlling my sabotaging thoughts.

Some of things are under my control. Some aren't.

Working on controlling things under my control and saying Oh well to the others. Things under my control are my compliance, my consistency and most importantly, quickly using thought stopping techniques against sabotaging thoughts to end the food desire struggle and stay on my plan.

When confronted by an unplanned food desire, these are the words Beck taught me to use to stop those thoughts.

Hunger & emotions are NOT emergencies.
Every bite counts!
Oh Well.
Wait 20 min. for satisfaction.
Strengthen my Resistance Muscle.
You don't care NOW. You always care tomorrow. Yes, You do care.
Start again immediately!! No stick!
You don't need it you WANT it.
Scale has NO Choice.
Reward myself every week!

Thought stopping is much more successful than will power and determination.

The journey requires so much energy. Will power and determination require energy. Thought stopping requires only a quick burst of energy and is followed quickly by giving myself credit, celebrating my success and feeling proud. Giving myself credit and celebrating journey successes produces positive energy for my journey. That's why the journey feels easier this way.

Hope your journey feels wonderful today!

Oh I love your list. Especially the one "you don't care now. You always care tomorrow. Yes you do care." So true.

emoticon stopping those thoughts and questioning their truth is a very important step.
It may feel weird at first, but as these thoughts keep coming back (and they do!) the less energy is needed to stop and reject them.
