just sayin' ... where's the accountability???

Saturday, October 29, 2016

Well ... the dental saga is almost over. The dentist did call and left a message that she was returning our phone call coz we called and asked her to call us ... NOT. We called and complained to the office manager and said if the dentist wanted to talk to us ... we were open to discuss our concerns with her!!! She did call two more times ... so we called her. She is very sorry BUT contradicted herself again and blamed others.

Our list of 17 concerns between hubby and my care was narrowed down to one(1) in her mind ... hubby being in pain for soooooo long ... which was not her fault coz the receptionist did not tell her Friday when we called.

She stood behind prescribing steroids to reduce swelling because in her opinion ONLY 3% of patients have insomnia issues with steroids. And the pharmacy should have advised us about insomnia ... even though she didn't.

I reiterated that I found out insomnia is in the top ten of side effects. Sleep is critical in our household due to a traumatic brain injury hubby experienced which the entire dental office was made aware of day one and repeated every time we came in. She still feels MOST patients ONLY have the side effect of tummy issues ,,, hubby was a RARE incident.

We left it with ... we deserve a dentist that truly cares about our RARE issues and all of our over a dozen concerns. Hubby was on the edge of a manic episode TWICE during her watch and she still doesn't understand how valuable WE are. Where's the accountability.

This is the time of year when alllllll the goodies are abundant. Desserts and treats that we don't see any other time of the year. Sugar, sugar, sugar ... every where ya look.

I AM reaching my goals coz I AM valuable.

I am reaching my goals coz I AM accountable for my actions, thoughts and relationship with food. No one can make me eat!!!

So the search is on for a new dentist.

And the continuation of taking the very best care of ME is on.

Though luck with the dentist. Sounds like it's time to find a new one if you can.

Good for you! In my experience both doctors and dentist only ever see the generic "patient." They must be taught that individuality is in the mind of the egotistical individual. Certainly declaring it is "attention seeking behavior." I am sooooo tired of that attitude! As for all the goodies, I've already blown it to some extent. I'm going to buy a bunch of apples today and keep a sliced one on the kitchen counter so I can grab a slice or two when I'm tempted to go visit the Halloween candy I didn't hide very well this year. ;-)

I work for a dentist and know how important listening to patient concerns are. I'm sorry you and your husband had to go through this. I'm not sure where you live but when looking for a new dentist we recommend contacting a periodontal office (gum specialist) and asking for a recommendation. They see and work with lots of dentists in the area. Good luck in your search.

Well said! Stick to your guns. You are worth the best care possible. I have thought long and hard about writing to the two specialists who told me last year that I needed to get used to the pain in my low back and hip - that was my life and there wasn't much to do about it. You did your best in trying to get through to the dentist and she was too defensive to hear it and to learn from it. Let her go and move on.
