Endoscopy and the Cough
Tuesday, October 25, 2016
I've had a rough week so far in that I was awake half the night coughing both Sunday and Monday nights. This morning, I emailed my boss around 6 a.m. to say I needed a couple more hours of sleep but I would make up the time and went into work late.
I also saw my family doctor today to get the results of my endoscopy. The good news is that the biopsy and scan showed no problems whatsoever. Great (she says with heavy sarcasm)! Still no diagnosis for the cough I've had for 19 months.
He says to keep taking the acid reflux pills to see if they help at all and in the meantime, I'm to take 1g of my medicinal marijuana before bed to see if it will help me sleep through the night without coughing. The medicinal marijuana, by the way, that he wouldn't prescribe for me and I had to find another doctor who would so interesting that he's advising me on the use of it.
I've been using medicinal marijuana since July and it is really amazing how effective it is for pain relief, anxiety relief and insomnia. The main one I take for pain relief takes effect in less than a couple of minutes. It's really pretty awesome. Who'd ever thunk back in the day that the stuff that made me so high could actually be used medicinally, too?
If the acid reflux pills and the MMJ at bedtime don't help with the cough, I don't know what I'm going to do next. My doctor said he's out of ideas. Maybe a naturopath?
