Once Upon a Time...Tracking My Food for Thought

Hi All,
I'm gonna chat while I 'run around getting ready' for tomorrow. My mother is having another surgery and I have to get going early, so I'm blogging the night before.
Nothing exceptional in fitness happened this week. It was my T.O.M. so I didn't S.W.I.M. lol
However, I DID get my arm workouts in and they are pretty thorough workouts. Also did some planks, though I logged a couple before actually DOING THEM and then I forgot and went to sleep. oops.

I guess I had a Wow Factor Moment yesterday. I'll re-post what I told my Hypo-Thyroids' team:

"I had a 'moment in the spot light' today.
Two of my sisters, Dad, and I met with a lawyer to discuss financial issues dealing with mom and dad's futures.
We did that for about an hour and half. The lawyer left. We talked a bit more and decided we girls would go see Mom.
All of a sudden, Sis #1 stands up and says, "I have to brag about Sue a minute."
I just looked at her and thought, "What have I done well for mom or dad lately???"
She just looked at Sis #3 and Dad, then pointed to me and said,

"SHE swam FORTY LAPS the other day!!!!! That's like 80 times from one end of the pool to the OTHER! I've never even swam ONE LENGTH of the pool before! and she swam it EIGHTY!!!"

LOL.

Wow...I guess she was impressed. I had mentioned it to her on Tuesday when we were visiting the new nursing home. And it must have been on her mind all week?
Too funny.

But that was really kind of her. "

So I guess the WOW comes when you take a minute to reflect on how far you've come. It was last October when Spark encouraged me to pick up an activity that I loved, and I chose Swimming. And I'm STILL loving it, so that's good.
I've NEVER DONE ANY kind of activity for this long.

Do I hear a Hoorah?

*************** Tracking my....Food for Thought*****************
There are so many great quotes out there and I just thought I'd share some favorites.

I just saw this one posted by GRNDMOM43:

"What lies BEHIND us and what lies BEFORE us are tiny matters compared to what lies WITHIN us." ~Walt Emerson

"Life isn't about finding yourself, it is about discovering who God created you to be."

"FALLING down is an accident. STAYING down is a choice."

"It's not about how bad you WANT it, it's about how hard you're willing to WORK for it."

"LOVE is the condition in which the happiness of another person, is ESSENTIAL to your own."

"Freedom prospers when religion is vibrant and the rule of law under God is acknowledged." ~Ronald Reagan

"Sin is the disease, CHRIST is the CURE."

Jesus said unto them, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM."
John 8:58

^how deep is THAT? ^

"Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy."
~Norman Vincent Peale

Loved that one!

"Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can."

I suppose Sis was sharing that to break the tension for Dad's sake. :) But nice, non-the-less.

You swimmers are a breed unto yourself. I think swimming laps is the most tedious thing to do. Open water swim is another story. I'll do that all day. But man oh man... that long black line in the middle of the lane. Can't deal with it. My husband can swim for an hour no problem Two hours in not unusual. It's a victory when I get through 30 minutes. LOL

I am so glad you had someone in your family that recognized your efforts. That's something
that many would give so much for.

Yet my heart goes out to you in the situation you are in with your Mom, and trying to help
your Dad through it all. We have been through it and will not be doing that stage again,
except maybe for each other. As hard as it is, remember it is a privilege to have them one
more day, one more hour. And, if there comes a time when there "appears" there is a need
for a life and death decision, remember....its okay. You won't make the wrong decision, for
God is Ultimately in control and He will over-rule any wrong decisions. We have seen it
happen and it has always brought such comfort.

When its not overly noticeable, give your Mom and Dad a hug for me, just because they are
your Mom and Dad. Thanks for sharing. Love and prayers to you.
