Perfect Time of Year to Bake Apples!

Monday, October 17, 2016

I never feel a meal is complete without a dessert. Some of my old "go-to's" have been Oreos, chocolate covered mangos, dark chocolate covered almonds, ritz crackers, mounds candy bars.

Then I gained 1/2 pounds this past week. Not good.

I need a change of diet to remind myself that I AM A SPARKIE, therefore have tools.

This is prime apple season, so let's capitalize on it!

Today's tools will be a baked apple. If you have never had them, you are in for a real treat, and VERY low points to boot!! Like having a piece of apple pie without the crust and calories and fat.

Just in case you haven't done them, or never heard about them, here is my recipe.

Baked Apples

Pre heat oven to 350 degrees.

Make a mixture of 1 Tbsp Brown sugar and 1 Tbsp cinnamon. Set aside.

Core the apple and discard the core.

Fill the empty core with the sugar and cinnamon mix. Top with a tsp of butter.

Set it in a pretty serving dish that can take oven heating.

Bake for 20 minutes or longer, depending on how soft you like your apple.

Put some soothing music on, light a candle for yourself, and sit down to enter a taste Paradise!!

Let me know how you like it.

I agree that apples make a most wonderful dessert! I like mine fried... same concept... a bit of butter, sweetener and cinnamon to taste in a pan and sauté until soft. Quicker and less work!
