Well, I'm at day 477 of my log-in streak . . . . and based on the weather forecasts, I might not be able to log in for a while if the storm is as bad as they predict.
We live in the woods, surrounded by lots of huge, old-growth Douglas Firs, Madrone, Oak and Pines all around us.
The power grid to our section of the County is extremely vulnerable on a good day, and to lose power during a 'normal' storm is common.
However, they're predicting this to be the worst storm since the Columbus Day storm of 1962 . . . . with sustained winds at 40 to 50 mph, and gusts to 100 mph.
It's pretty much a given that we will have downed trees on our property (hopefully not those around our house!) which will take out our power.
Since the entire area will likely be without power by early tomorrow morning, we probably won't have internet or operable cell coverage for several days.
I really hope the forecasters are wrong. . . . but there are already reports of several bad tornadoes along the Oregon Coast . . . and that just doesn't happen. But it is happening.
We are as ready as we can be . . . we have a generator and fuel for it . . . and food, batteries, water (and toilet paper).
Just as long as we're safe . . . that's really all that matters.
Sure glad we got that last ride in a couple days ago . . .
But it looks like we just might be in for the biggest ride of all!
