What I learned yesterday

Wednesday, October 12, 2016

Yesterday I was awake at 3am & couldn't get back to sleep..not an unusual occurrence for me. However at 4:30am I decided to make breakfast: 1/2 packet high protein oatmeal, flax, 3oz greek yogurt & 3/4 cup raspberries. I thought all I would need would be coffee at the office & I'd be good for a while. Well, I started craving the fried egg sandwiches co-workers were eating, then goodies started arriving, I did well through lunch when the candy arrived..turned it down, then had a third of a fun size bar & well you know it went downhill from there. I learned I can't eat so early, too many "eating" hours leaves me vulnerable & I learned I need to plan to cope with an office full of goodies. I' m starting with frozen grapes & looking for other ideas. Btw being off today I did really well & feel better about managing.

It must be really tough working in a place where all those temptations exist. I don't know if I could be strong enough to say no and that would start me off on the wrong foot eating more things not on my diet. Good luck with your "spark" days from now on.

I remember those days at work when the goodies arrived. Oh, it is so difficult to say no to all of the temptations.

I think I would have learned the same thing. Good thing it was only one day.

I use to see what the people brought in the office, and instead of being tempted, I would devise a plan to go home and make the same thing, only in the most healthiest version possible, and then bring it to work the next day. Most of the time everyone wanted to know how I changed things up. It helped me keep active at night, and eat healthier the next day. I know this is an older blog, but still wonderful to read.

That's okay. I can't seem to give up the miniature chocolate donuts from dolly Madison. I have those with my coffe every morning. We buy them 3-4 bags at a time. My husband is 8 years older(66). And he lost at least 25 pounds. I wonder if he had a motivator I don't know about. Anyway I know where you are at. Good luck.

It's so much easier to watch things at home. The work place is dangerous. Bring some food bars with you and keep a supply in your desk.

oh, that can be so rough. This is luckily my first holiday season coming up where I WON'T be working in an office and constantly having to resist temptations.
Best of luck as you navigate it!

It is just all a mindset. You are going to be around sweets, fattening food for the rest of the holiday season. Figure out if you definitely are going to fight the urges, stick with healthy foods only and don't pick up a sweet treat. Why put yourself through all that when it ruins all the work you have worked to lose weight?

I love grapes and I'm also really big into mason jars meals. I put everything in them, they are so quick and easy I always a few in case of emergencies. I love celery and peanut butter or carrots and hummus. Make your own healthy trail mix. Anything!

I love frozen grapes, but sugar content is rather high. I also love peaches, nectarines, mangoes, raspberries and blueberries frozen. And apples travel well and are really good fresh not frozen.
Sounds like your work place is a food mine field.

As I try to train in the morning, I usually have a banane or grapes for the after training fruits and then, around 10, I munch on carrots and celeries. It's a long processus, so you munch and you munch.. and no time for goodies. I don't snack otherwise but mornings are also difficult for me.
Now, there is only one way and it's forward, so let's erase the "bad" day and keep sparking!

I drink coffee as soon as I wake up then try to hold of to the last minute for breakfast. I find that I look for lunch later and then I don't want a snack between then and dinner.

Waking up early and eating breakfast is a problem because your body needs extra calories to get you through the day. You might try just having hot tea with milk early in the morning to kind of make you feel full until it's time for breakfast.
