When the honeymoon ended, it really ended!

Monday, October 10, 2016

My wife and I had the trip of a lifetime on a 12-day Alaskan cruise and land trip. Sometime soon, I will share the pictures. When we got home, however, we opened the door to a flooded house after a major plumbing problem. That was a month ago, and our house is still torn up with the repairs being made.

To top it off, our air conditioning went out a few days later, and just a few days ago, we discovered a severe wood ant infestation in the walls and ceiling of one small room. I've been gutting that room, treating the ants, and making structural repairs the past 3 days. Today we will bring in the "pros" to finish the work.

The repair work will continue for the next few weeks, and maybe by the first of November, we can start to go on with our lives. Some friends gave us a wedding gift of a week at their beach condo in Florida (about a week from now) and we are so ready. We both definitely need a break!

Please understand if I don't respond to many of your comments. Our daily "to-do" list is almost more than we can handle right now.

Take care, everyone!

Oh my goodness! The one good thing about catching up late is that I'm assuming (by scanning your feed) that all is now going well and you are enjoying a much needed break from stress. As you are well aware, "things" can be fixed - stressful...annoying... but in the end you will persevere. I'm glad you have a helpmate to see you through.

Just seeing this Bill! Now you have had 2 1/2 weeks of repair and it is almost November. I pray that you have made much progress at the home, you could take advantage of that lovely vacation gift and you live happily ever after.

That's a huge mess to come home to. I hope once this round of repairs is done you don't have to deal with any more house stuff for a good long time.

First - emoticon on your marriage! ! ! What great news.

When it rains it pours! Or so it seems at times. Definitely feeling your pain right now with all of those disasters. On a brighter note - DH and I went to Alaska this summer too. 5 weeks round trip on our motorcycles. The scenery was awesome!

    Enjoy your wedding gift vacation.
