Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Good advice. Sounds easy. But for me it's been harder to implement then you'd think. At 402 lbs, I can easily lose 5 lbs a week by taking my calories down to 1200 per day. But doing that has caused me to do endless rounds of yo yo dieting. For the past year I've taken a much slower approach, striving for a 1-2 lbs loss per week, with my current calorie range being 1700-1900 calories per day. This has been much easier for me to sustain long term. I realize that my BMR will decrease as I lose weight and I'll have to gradually drop the calorie range to maintain that rate of loss. I am hopeful that this slower approach will allow me to stay on track for the long haul.
