Should we buy shoes too big to get 'more for the money'?

Wednesday, October 05, 2016

When my DH buys shoes I usually end up with some of them. Usually they are sized wrong and fit me [a little too big but comfortable.] Its a good thing that moccasins and athletic shoes can be worn by either sex.

I got this in an email and got a good laugh so I thought I would share. [Its actually an ad!]

" When my husband needs shoes, we order 2 sizes. This way, he can keep the ones that fit and we send the other pair back.

The other day, 2 pairs of sandals arrived. He tried both on and this time, it wasn't clear which pair was the better fit. Both fit pretty well.

So he walked around and talked to the other 3 of us about which ones he should keep.

After much discussion with him, we all agreed that he should keep the smaller sandals. They looked just right.

My husband is one to make up his own mind, though.

He said, "I'm keeping the bigger ones."

Like I said, it was pretty close. I could have gone either way myself. So I said, "Great. We'll send the others back."

Later that day, at dinner, we're talking about other things.

And my husband pipes up, out of the blue, "Well, if anyone sees these and asks why I bought sandals that are too big, I'll just say ... because I got more shoe for the money."

He said it so matter of factly, with just a hint of a snicker.

I nearly spit out my food.

More shoe for the money? As if anyone would buy bigger shoes because they could get more shoe material!

Our son said, "Huh? I don't get it. Why would you do that?"

I said, "Mikah, if I gave you $10 to go get a pie, and you got there and found 2 pies each priced at $10, but one of them was bigger than the other, which one would you get?"

Mikah said, "Oh, I get it..." (chuckle, chuckle, chuckle)

Meanwhile, I couldn't resume eating because I was still laughing!

What's my point with this story?

Well, it's not that we should buy shoes too big to get 'more for the money' ... but it's close!"

This lady has a Cooking School and a blog. The ad was about getting one of her deals from the blog and getting more for your money. I didn't include the ad. But isn't everyone selling something on the internet a little "faux"!

DH cleaned out his closet and I got two new pair of shoes! These are the swim shoes that you buy at the beach. With socks they fit and are comfortable. We have a concrete floor which is really hard on the feet but easy to clean. I try to wear a different pair of shoes each day. Usually by noon I have to change shoes so that means three pair of shoes a day, which includes house-shoes at night. So I need five pairs of shoes every two days. emoticon

LOL. Stupid. Another dumb ad. The faux couple seems to have a marriage made in Heaven though. They obviously are not the sharpest crayons in the box. I try to not order shoes online but if I do I usually just measure my foot or make a paper tracing of it. I thought everyone did that.
