The One True Way

This blog is my gut reaction to what I've just read about CICO and the refutation thereof.

I was going to write about how I'm not eating completely Paleo (just mostly), and I hoped there were no Paleo police around to grab me and throw me in Paleo Jail, lol. I happen to eat Paleo because it suits my lifestyle and personally I feel better eating this way, but occasionally I will have something (dark chocolate! half and half in my coffee! OMG! snickering) that doesn't jibe with the so-called Paleo orthodoxy, if there even IS such a thing. But you know what? There are no Paleo police. There are no Vegetarian police. There are no Atkins, South Beach, Zone, Weight Watchers, Primal, Secondary, or Tertiary for that matter, or any other kind of diet/ lifestyle police. Not official ones, anyway, and God in Heaven help us if that ever does happen!

Listen:
You eat what you want, period.

You exercise how you want, period.

It's your life, you have to do what's best for your own body, and YOU ARE THE BEST JUDGE OF THAT. Through trial and error (trust me, I've made a million errors! :)), YOU have to figure that out.

Everybody is different.
We have different body types, ages, issues, temperaments- a multitude of differences!
We aren't all the same; we don't all respond the same to a program or diet or lifestyle!


However, there are those who like to don that police hat and mount that ever-so-high horse. They strike a pose and pronounce in the thunderous tones of Moses cradling the tablets:
"You must eat this!
You must not eat that!
You must record every calorie to lose weight!
You must do this particular exercise or you'll never get toned!
The heavens will open and dragons with wings of righteous wrath will consume you if you ....fill in the blank...!
Beware of ....fill in the blank.....!"
These people will preach and posture because they know EVERYTHING and they CERTAINLY know better than YOU!

Again, please, listen:
Take it with a grain of salt.
Maybe a cup.
Even better, take it with a couple of pounds of the stuff.
Because there is no One True Way to lose weight/eat healthy/get fit.
Hey, Mister or Miss Policeperson up on that horse! Guess what? What works for you may NOT work for me! AND YOU'RE NOT MY JUDGE!

The only true way is the way that works...for YOU.

Anyway, that's my buck fifty, for what it's worth.

    Hey Sue. Thank you for that blog. I also think that you have to own your progress. In the end, you are the only master of your success. You are the one who needs to try and try again to learn what fits you or not. All the ressources that are available was done based on someone's beliefs and sure, it can help you but this is your responsability to ensure what you're doing suits you. We are all unique, so it takes unique combinaison to succeed!
