Fidgeting in your seat

I was looking for obscure ways to help me out losing weight and keeping it off, I read that by tapping your legs you can burn up to 600 calories in 8 hours. So I'm going to at least try and see how it goes. Anyone ever try it? If so do you think there were any truths behind the article I read. I'm not going to record it as exercise, but looking for anything that will help me lose and keep off the weight.
