Change in Goals
Tuesday, September 27, 2016
I'm changing my goals for the rest of the year. I knew September would be busy with work travel, vacations and my birthday, so I figured that I would be maintaining my weight through the month.
I had planned to get back to work on weight loss in October, but I'm not sure how realistic that is going to be. It's now starting to head into the holiday seasons, and a lot of impromptu events are going to come up. I'm not sure I can put a laser like focus on my diet and exercise that is necessary for weight loss for the remainder of the year.
Despite being fairly lazy this past week, I'm still in fat burning mode according to my tools, so I haven't done anything to knock me out of light keto. I only rode my bike 4 times, but even that little bit of exercise helps me maintain my weight. I don't want to gain weight right now, so I feel success is maintaining.
Tomorrow my husband and I travel to Seattle for a few days, then to Victoria, BC for the weekend. We used to live in the PacNW, so we're going back for a little nostalgia trip.
We were there earlier in the summer, and I was completely depressed on how fat and out of shape I was. I used to be fit and a pseudo-athlete when we lived there. It was one of my big motivators for getting my butt back on track with diet and exercise. I'll be going back there tomorrow 17 pounds lighter than 5 months ago. We don't have time for the more strenuous hikes we used to take when we lived there, but we're hoping we can rent bikes in Victoria and have a peddle on the waterfront. It's not summer anymore, so we'll see how the weather holds. I'll have to bring more rain gear this time! But we used to live there so we know how it is. I used to ride my bike, rain or shine.
I'm less worried about my food traveling to Seattle/Victoria than I was for my work trip. Our favorite places are full of healthy food that I like to eat - all the glorious seafood I can eat. I don't have to eat starchy carbs if I don't want to. We are going to be actively walking and biking, so I will get some exercise to give carbs a productive place to go.
When October rolls around, I'll see how my motivation feels. Right now, my goal is set for maintenance.
