Making Strides, Making progress and challenge started

Well, I am starting off with that the Spark Connecticut team has raised $85 so far for the Making Strides of Hartford against Breast Cancer. It isn't a ton, but every bit helps in research and awareness for this disease. There is still time to join our team and walk with us on Oct. 16th. If you just want to walk, that is fine. If you just want to fundraise and not walk, that is fine too. Just make sure to click the Join Our Team button to be added. I am looking forward to this day. Walking with other spark friends is so much fun. We always have fun on our walks. Here is the link to the page.
I am also so happy that I am really making progress now with my weight loss. The two things I have done differently is 1) I write down everything I eat during the day. I could use the tracker on Spark here, but I found in the past I didn't keep up with it. So I am doing it the old fashioned way and just using pencil and paper. Seems to work better for me. Others find the tracker on here to work better for them and that is great. Find what works best for you then go with it!! 2) I make sure to get my steps in each day. I have a Garmin and I always make sure to get those steps in. I started off just doing what was my set goal and after a week, I set my own goal to reach and make sure I do each day. And if that means jogging in place while I watch Grey's Anatomy on Netflix, so be it!! I tell you, after 10 minutes, I can feel my heart going. I am up to doing 11,500 faithfully each day. This is what works for me. And I am seeing the weight SLOWLY inching down for the first time in about 9 months. So when it comes to exercise, find what works for you.
And today, as a leader of the Spark Connecticut team, I started a new challenge on the Challenge Forum and that begins today. What we are to do is each week for 3 weeks is to challenge ourselves to change up our exercise. So we either exchange out one this week for something different or just add a different one to what we currently do. The idea is to challenge our body. When your body gets used to doing the same thing over and over it stops making progress if you are trying to lose weight or inches. So, this week I will be looking on here to find a video to do and change things up. I am adding it to my already steps I make sure to get in. I will probably do this on Tuesday or Wednesday because tomorrow I am going to The Big E ( for those not in New England, that is our big fair here) and you know that means A LOT of really good, but not so good for you, food. LOL But, it is only one day and I will be back on track the day after.
So there you have it, my update on everything. I am excited for all three things. It is keeping me motivated. And that is all we need, motivation to keep going.
