September 23, 2016 WHEN WE AREN'T HONEST
When we aren't honest with others, we are doing wrong. It can cause us to want to avoid them. We get tangled up in our lies and deceit and soon we are feeling guilty about what we did but don't know how to fix things. If we aren't careful, we will destroy a perfectly good relationship with another person because of one small lie. When we aren't honest, we can destroy lives, harbor bitterness and cause others to have hard feelings toward us.
Galatians 5:15 "But if you are always biting and devouring one another, watch out! Beware of destroying one another." (NLT)
Dear Lord, help us to be honest people. Remind us when we are honest, we don't have to harbor ill feelings. Remind us when we are honest, we can avoid destroying the lives of others. Remind us when we are honest we are living in obedience to You. Help us, Lord, to get rid of all evil behavior in our lives so we can live honestly and do what You call us to do. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Living an honest life means to stop living to destroy others with lies.
When we are not honest, we are working to destroy others with our lies.
If we want to hurt a friendship, all we need to do is tell a little lie.
One little lie could lead to many more and could lead to many lost relationships.
Being dishonest can cause evil behavior because we are harboring lies in our hearts.
1 Peter 2:1 "So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech." (NLT)
Focus: Focus on God's truth and His will so we can lead honest lives that help others rather than tear them down.
