September 21, 2016 IT TAKES DISCIPLINE

Those who follow Jesus may appear to others as if they have the perfect life. They may seem to have it all together. They may look as if they are flawless and dedicated. However, that is far from the truth. They still sin. They still mess up. They still have some issues. We all do. The difference is their attitude. They seem to have it together because they have the attitude of Christ and know God is in control. Another difference is their discipline. They are called disciples for a reason. It takes discipline to resist temptation, live for Him and be truthful and honest. That attitude and discipline comes from a relationship with Him. We can all be true disciples for God when we are disciplined to do His will.

2 Corinthians 4:2 "We reject all shameful deeds and underhanded methods. We don't try to trick anyone or distort the word of God. We tell the truth before God, and all who are honest know this." (NLT)

Dear Lord, we want Your will to be done today. We pray You will take us and use us as You see fit. Give us opportunities to practice discipline in our daily walk. Give us strength to make the right decisions. Help us be a godly example to others in telling the truth and being a hard worker for You. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. We want to know You better and better every day so we can correctly explain Your word to others. In Jesus' name. Amen.

When we reject the world and focus on God, He can help us live the life He wants us to live.

We are to tell the truth before God and never distort His word. Never.

When we are living as God wants us to live, we will never be ashamed of anything we do.

We can all be true disciples for God when we are disciplined to do His will.

We can be good workers for God when we know His word and are not ashamed of telling others about Him.

2 Timothy 2:15b "Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth." (NLT)

Focus: Focus on Jesus. Work hard. Tell the truth. Be disciplined to do His will.
