Switching Psychiatrist after 15 years

Thursday, September 15, 2016

My psychiatrist appt went horrible yesterday. she accused me of misses appoints which is why I went an extra month without seeing her. That was totally untrue! She was out of the country for all of August and I was rescheduled 3 times. SHe just said "If it'ss my fault then it's my fault" I was near tears.. Then She said that she was very upset with me for now having a therapist. I've had a therapist that I see everyother week for the last 3 years. WHen I informed her of this she said I never told her. As I was checking out there was a very distraght girl in the waiting room. She told the receptionist that she had an emergency and to send the girl to thee ER. This is not the Dr. I knew . And it's been happening more and more often. Also I started seeing her when I lived 30 minutes away. I've since moved and now It's a 2 hour and 30 minute drive one way to see her. I'm depressed after the was I was treated, I slept till 4pm today, but I'm feeling a little better. Tomorrow I'm going to call my physician to refer me to a psychiatrist in my health plan. It has to stop.

I'm crying as I write this because I'm been through a lot with her. but I beleive it s time to let go.

I agree with Cathy. It sounds like you need to switch doctors. Sending you love and light.

Don't feel bad or guilty about switching!!!!! You are paying the psychiatrist----not serving them...Hopefully you can have one closer to home. It was good that she did help you in the past but time to MOVE ON you are too important to stay with someone like that. You can do this! emoticon emoticon

Definitely time to switch! No need to feel bad about it either. She helped you in the past but something has changed and she's not helping now. Sounds like she's making it worse for you instead of better. I hope you find someone closer and more compassionate and helpful than your current Psychiatrist has become.

Hugs! You deserve to be treated better than that. Hope you find someone who's a good fit. Take care of yourself.
