This summer I went to my first raw vegan festival. This week has been an epiphany for me, not only in terms of diet but also lifestyle.
The festival took place in the south of Spain, in a very protected area in the mountains. We were 100 from all over Europe (with 2 Americans, and one of the two was currently living in Australia). I was fascinated by the diverse and amazing life journeys of all the persons I met there. I had a special connection/bound with 4 French and 4 Swiss (wo)men, and we are planning/plotting other meetings and travels.
We were in a camping site, and I must confess that this experience has reconciled me with sleeping under a tent.
Each morning, we could start with yoga. I also tried yoga in the air with an American teacher who lives in Australia.
During the afternoon, we could relax in hammocks, go to the river, play instruments, participate to talks, go hiking to discover the mountainous surroundings and these beautiful white villages with their artists, for the most sporty ones riding in the mountains... Keep in mind that the weather in southern Spain is very hot, even by the end of August, and exercising can be quite challenging while the nights are a bit chilly.
The river was absolutely magnificent, and so clear that we could see fishes around us.
As it was a Fruit fest, each day we had an all-day buffet with mangoes, watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe, litchi, papaya, different varieties of figs, grapes, bananas,...
In the mornings after yoga, I had mangoes, watermelon, honeydew melon.
Each time, I was thirsty I ate a slice of watermelon.
For my afternoon snack after walking or relaxing, I had a smoothie of banana and carob seed and pepper
For dinner, we had beets, avocados (the best I've ever eaten), carrots, zucchini, green and red pepper, cucumber, salad, and different types of homemade veggie sauces...
It has been a very long time since I've been feeling so well, so reenergized... and I've been able to lose weight again.
Since I am back, I've kept this raw diet, and I no longer feel like living in a fog nor bloated.
Here is a video made by a lovely Belgian girl who attended the festival and offered us a talk on meditation as long as a meditation session. She has a beautiful smiley face, and was always smiling.
