The time is drawing near for the 2016 Fall 5% Challenge to begin. The official start date is Saturday, September 24. As with any trip, even a virtual trip needs to be planned. I have my exercise plan set and now I am planning for my diet commitment.
I don't like to call it a diet, because diets fail. This is my healthy eating plan. This is my plan for how I will eat for the rest of my life. You are what you eat. Eat healthy to be a healthy you.
Do you know what diet you will follow? I will follow the guidelines set on the Nutrition tracker on Sparkpeople for diabetics. I will use the principles of the Full Plate Living in that I will work to fill my plate with at least 50% veggies and fruits which will help me get my daily fiber in.
Found some recipes? I use Spark recipes. They make it so easy to add to my nutrition tracker. It takes some searching, but I have found quite a few recipes that I have tried and like very much.
Grocery list? I make up my grocery list Saturday night. This makes shopping easier and helps me to stick to my plan.
Shop? I go shopping Sunday morning and cook my meals for the week Sunday afternoon. If I don't cook for the week ahead, I know that I will be grabbing high calorie, high sodium foods that are no good for me.
Do you have the food on hand to get started? Yes. The freezer is stocked with home cooked meals ready to be heated in the microwave and I have staples on hand to throw together for a quick meal.
Have you followed this diet before? Yes, this is the plan that I have followed for almost two years. It is a lifetime plan.
Did you clean up your kitchen? Yes. The unhealthy is gone and in its place are healthy options.
As on any trip, it is more fun to travel with friends. I'd like to invite you to come along with me to Healthy Land. There are a lot of stops along the way and I don't know yet where this leg of the trip will take us, but please join me. Click on the link below and follow the instructions for joining the team. Happy travels!
