214.2, a jog in the wrong direction

Tuesday, September 06, 2016

Yeah, but I'm taking the weight after dinner (or I was, when I started scribbling this entry hours and hours ago), and stuff, and things have conspired to result in my eating less than well for a couple of days, and, 214.2 isn't a bad number under these circumstances.

I got the job thingy i mentioned last time, apparently I kicked butt on the the on line exam, and I kicked more butt on the phone interview, which was helped by the fact it was a practical exam of sorts, getting to log into the system and muck around, instead of trying to remember where everything was, a month after I'd last seen it.

Problem is, even though I asked three times when the earliest possible start date of the project was, the earliest possible start date turned out to be three days before they told me the earliest possible start date was, and so instead of going to my heavy metal family reunion, I have to miss it, in order to attend some sort of orientation session. And that, of course, is also dependent on the company getting the ducks all lined up (background check, drug test, etc) before this Friday, so I can go and start on time. So far, not particularly impressed, but then again, on the compressed timeline that this has come together on, maybe some slack is in order.

Anyway. New job, 9 month proposed contract, these are good things. Feeling like I want to stay away from facebook for the whole week because I'm going to be pissed off every time someone posts about the great bands I'm missing, or the great people I'm not getting to hug, not so great. Such is life.
