One more day & update on Bad Leroy Brown

Wednesday, August 31, 2016

It's really funny that last April when I set my ticker to the countdown to internet date, I picked an arbitrary date . . . one that I thought would be way out there . . .

Today it says one more day to internet install . . . and guess what, tomorrow just might turn out to be the day. We were scheduled for today, but they ran out of cable . . . so hopefully . . . .

Well, little Leroy Brown had a couple hard days this week . . . first off, on Sunday while (going nutso) chasing after a turkey, he got a bit "high centered" and his private 'thingy' got drug through or jammed into a pile of dirt (after all, he's not that tall) and it was covered with all kinds of dirt, fox tails and other debris which also got rammed down inside where the sun never shines.

Poor little guy . . . momma did the best she could cleaning off the debris I could see, but I told him he'd have to take care of the rest himself. I was ready to take him into the vet the next day, but I guess he took care of it because there's been no sign of swelling or irritation. But I"m still keeping an eye on him.

Then Monday, while walking around the yard, he got stung by a wasp inside his right rear leg.

Now, to say that I panicked would be an understatement. The last time he got stung was 10 years ago when he was about 6 months old, and he had a bad reaction and died in my arms.

Seriously. No respiration. No heartbeat. Nothing.

Since to lose my little guy was NOT an option, I did CPR on him until we got him to a vet clinic (of course it was on Sunday afternoon when nothing is open). The vet gave him a shot and kept him for observation. When I picked him up, the vet told me if Leroy was ever stung again to give him a certain dose of Benedryl.

So, on Monday, I got the stinger out of his leg and dosed him with Benedryl . . . and thankfully, NO reaction. none at all. (see Cat doing the happy dance!!!!)

He limped around, favoring that leg . . . . but the next day he was fine.

He's been getting a lot of extra love and pampering.

Anyway, that's my story for today. I've already been on here too long . . . hopefully tomorrow we'll have internet installed and I can catch up with YOUR stories!!!

Until then, let's make today count!!!
