Are your friends making you fat?

Tuesday, August 30, 2016

"For women, food and friendship are intimately linked. To refuse food or to over or under eat compared to others could be viewed as rejection.

The result is that while many of us are able to juggle career and family, making unpopular decisions in these arenas, somehow we can't do the same when faced with a meal we'd rather not eat. When confronted by a table full of our friends, we don't want to be the odd one out, so we eat more or less than we want to."

My one good friend doesn't like to go to lunch with me since I switched to low carb. She says "you can't eat anything anyway" which is far from the truth. It hurts my feelings but I stick to my guns.

I just wish my friends had tried to tell me when I was younger instead of accepting me as I was. Although I probably wouldn't have taken any notice anyway & it's not their fault. It was all down to me. I just wish I knew then what I know now.
