Hey wonderful people!! How are you doing? How are ya livin'? Me? I'm enjoying the wind-down of summer and cooler weather.
So, I had nothing planned this weekend and decided to watch something On Demand. I picked Creed. Now I've never seen any other Rocky movies. I'm a boxing fan but I admit that I have a tendency to allow athletes to mess up the game for me sometimes.
Like boxing. The first fight party I ever went to was in my early 20s. I was just going for the socializing since it was my best friend's get together. I will never forget. Mike Tyson was fighting SOMEONE (can't recall at the moment) and he did this punch where he JUMPED like a rabbit and POW! I clapped so hard that my Timex watch which had a brown leather band snapped right off and flew across the room. I was hooked.
Years later the ear biting thing happened and I was so disenchanted. I mean, I don't have to pay to watch a street fight on cable. I was disgusted and lost my love for the game.
But I digress. This weekend I watched Creed and...wow! Sylvester Stallone looks terrific and I've never thought of him as sexy before but now that he's aged a bit, I like it.
At one point, I jumped up and started boxing right along with Creed when he was shadow boxing. I was fueled with energy and in the zone! It really sucks that you can't see the animated version of the GIF below. It's hilarious but...only still pics here on SparkPeople.
This weekend I also had a couple rolls that were getting a little stale. I put it out for the birds as I am all out of cracked corn. One minute there wasn't a bird in sight. Minutes later, these big, aggressive birds (are they crows or blackbirds? I'm not really sure) swooped down in packs, chased away a poor squirrel (who really tried to hold his ground but couldn't) and took all the broken up pieces of bread up, up and out of sight. Then they came back later like bullies expecting more.
I also hopped on the scale this weekend and to my great surprise, I've lost 2 more pounds. I am so in the zone, people! 164.4.
I was surprised but also pleased. I've been eating well but not depriving myself at all. For the first time ever, I made myself bacon and eggs for breakfast. I had a bunch of eggs leftover from a couple weeks ago when I purchased some Jiffy corn muffin mix to see if I could make 'em like my mom used to, but mine came out grainy and dry, and after Googling, I see many people complained of the same thing. But my mom had such a knack for 'em. After throwing away 2 batches, I wasn't trying again. I don't eat muffins all that often anyway.
So, I experimented because lately I've been trying foods that I haven't had in awhile that I *thought* I didn't like. Like eggs. The smell of scrambled eggs growing up used to make me literally sick, like run to the toilet on my knees sick. So eggs never made it to my diet unless they were fried really hard so there was no gross runny yolk.
Know what? They were delicious - well, eggs aren't really big on flavor, but after reading about the protein, I figure the last 6 eggs I have will make for a good, filling breakfast. And I feel no guilt about the bacon. I didn't even eat it all because some of it got too crisp for my liking. I make it the ole Foreman Grill and get rid of a lot of the grease and fat. If my Southern mom were still alive, she'd be collecting the bacon grease for something or other. I might start doing the same eventually. I usually keep it nearer to the holidays to season greens or something.
That's how my weekend went. OH! One more thing.
Went into my closet and tried on a beautiful Nicole Miller dress that a friend gave me last year that she's never worn and isn't her style. You can't see the front (yet) but I tried it on and for the first time since I've had it, I got it over my hips and all the way up...just can't zip that bitch up. LOL!!! But step by step, inch by inch.
Keep drinking water, eating well, dancing, moving, whatever it takes to shake another ounce. It takes time but I didn't gain it overnight so I don't expect to miraculously lose it all in a season.
Now. How was YOUR weekend?!
