On A Losing Streak

Saturday, August 27, 2016

I weighed myself this morning. I had lost another pound. Do I enter that on my weight tracker today? Or do I wait a few days and see if this is really a loss or a fluke? I do this often - ponder over whether the scale is accurate. I am getting weighed at the gym on Friday, I will have a better answer then.

I am doing a lot of exercise this summer. The temps are always hot in Florida. I love to get in the pool and swim. I really cannot track the movement with my Fitbit - instead I have to put down the minutes I swim and guess at the amount of calories that I have burned. I know that as long as I am moving, I am burning calories.

The BLC challenge will be starting soon. I am a co-cappy again with the Camo Crew. I am anxious to get with the fitness challenges and hope that I can lose another 5 pounds before the end.

Awesome! I always track the losses. I figure that fluctuations up are water weight...but fluctuations down are fat loss. Keep up the good work! Thanks for the encouragement! Spark on! emoticon

I weigh every day but record only on Monday. That way the little ups and downs due to water, sodium, etc. get smoothed out. Why Monday? you ask. Well, I am an on and off WW member (currently off) and my WW meetings were Monday morning.

Congrats on the weight loss! I do the same thing...wonder when I should record it on my SparkPage. I weigh myself frequently...almost every day, but sometimes I skip a day. I write my weight on a little calendar, and I can see if fluctuates daily. For the SparkPeople website, I always like seeing the little "congratulations, you've lost a pound" note that appears on the feed...but then I feel bad if the next day I've gained it back. And I don't want to change my SparkPeople number again, because when I lose that pound once again, I get the message again, and that doesn't seem right.

So, what I've decided is that I don't log my weight into SparkPeople the first day I see the lower number on the scale. I do write it on my little calendar, so it's motivation for me. I wait until I see the number twice on the scale, and then I log it into SparkPeople. That way I feel it isn't a fluke. And if I happen to gain a little back over that number, I feel more confident I can lose it again that same week.

    You are doing great! Awesome!

Good job! One of the things I've learned during a 97lb weight loss journey (and I have more to go)...don't stress about weigh-ins. I record my weight once a week on Fridays using the same scale. Sometimes I sneak on the scale earlier in the week, but I no longer treat those weigh-ins as "authorized." I don't post them, whether gain or loss...I wait until the official Friday weigh day. It's helped me as I had the same questions when I weighed at random times...is it a fluke? I was doing so well, why didn't I lose? Yippee! I lost. Oh, what if it has gone back up on official weigh day or I didn't lose? Then what?

Fantastic! Might be prudent to wait for the gym weigh in for confirmation. If it's like a Dr.'s scale, you know it will be accurate. I record once a week, but then I am maintaining and don't need daily weigh ins.
Keep on doing what you are doing, it's working!
