Dear August, you suck

Thursday, August 25, 2016

Well, to be fair, July threw you a curveball. Tycho the collie died Jul 29 (cancer, at 9 years old)...and the hits just keep on coming.

Car died. Congrats to me on a new minivan complete with automatic does and car payments (it was a nice 4 year run without them)

Roof repair turned out to be 30% ($4,000) more expensive because the underlayment rotted out

And, icing on cake, hubby woke up in pain today, and volunteered to see a Dr. (That's a scary sign for the stubborn boy). has a kidney stone that's borderline size, they want to give it a few days before scheduling a procedure to see if he passes it.

Sure, THEY don't have to live with him for those next couple of days! Him + 2 kids (1 getting ready for 2nd grade) plus ongoing roof repair which equals noise, dirt, and an extra agitated hound dog.

I want to go to the office to escape. Is it Monday yet?

They say bad things come in threes - but you over shot that rule.

Condolences on the loss of your pet. I lost my best friend (his pic is my avatar) a year ago on the 23. Same age as your fur baby and same condition.

Roof and car just plain rotten luck.

I've read that kidney stone pain is 2nd only to child birth. I've experienced both and I'd say childbirth is better. Why? Because you get a beautiful baby out of the experience. I've had 3 Kidney stones. First one they did surgery with in 12 hours. Dr said it was boulder size and I wouldn't be able to pass it. The 2nd one passed in the emergency room - I made it through with some very strong drugs. The 3rd I rode out at home.

Hope your hubby is doing OK.

UGH. That's an awful lot to have land on your plate all at once. I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but instead of running as fast I can with the Chaos, I slow down... do more to nurture everyone, take time to laugh and escape for a few hours. Things end up feeling less urgent and chaotic, and I end up feeling more energized and focussed and better able to cope.

I hope you have moments of relative peace in the midst of it all, and REALLY hope things settle own for you husband quickly!
